Insufficient Back washing

Sand bed plugged with mineral deposits.

Partially closed valve.

Back wash until effluent runs clear.

Chemically clean filter.

Open valve or remove obstruction in return line.

Short Cycles

Improper sand size

Air strainer is damaged or missing

Reduce back wash flow rate.

Change to proper sand.

Replace air strainer.

Leak at closure

Improperly tightened closure

Dirt or contamination

Damaged parts

Shut off pump, relieve tank pressure, open air bleeder, tighten closure properly.
