Cartridge Filter Maintenance
| Problem | Cause | Remedy |
| Pool water not sufficiently clean | Pool chemistry not adequate to inhibit algae growth.Obstruction in suction line to pump. Dirty cartridge. Inadequate turnover rate. |
Maintain pool chemistry or consult pool service technician. Clean cartridge. Use chemical cleaning of cartridge if necessary. Run system for longer time or consult dealer or pool service technician. |
| High filter pressure | Dirty cartridge. Partially closed valve or restriction in return. |
Clean cartridge. Use chemical cleaning of cartridge if necessary. Open valve or remove obstruction in return line. |
| Short cycles | Dirty cartridge. Pool chemistry not adequate to inhibit algae growth. Flow rate too high. |
Clean cartridge. Use chemical cleaning of cartridge if necessary. Maintain pool chemistry or consult pool service technician. Restrict flow to capacity of filter (see filter label) |
| Dirt returning to pool | Cartridge element not properly located on center pipe. Cartridge element ruptured. Air strainer on cap assembly is damaged or missing. |
Check element for proper location. Ensure that cartridge is installed properly. Check for breaks in polyester material. Replace if necessary. Replace air strainer. |
| Leakage at clamp | Improperly tightened clamp. Dirt or contamination. Damaged or cut O-Ring. |
Shut off pump, relieve tank pressure, open air bleeder. Tighten clamp properly. Shut off pump, relieve tank pressure, open air bleeder. Remove tank top and clean O-Ring sealing surfaces. Reassemble tank properly. Same as above except replace O-Ring. |
| Return flow to pool diminished, low filter pressure | Obstruction in pump hair and lint strainer. Obstruction in pump. Obstruction in suction line to pump. |
Clean basket in strainer. Disassemble and clean pump. Clean skimmer basket. Remove obstruction in lines. Open valves in suction line. |
